MATHSIMIZED wasn't built in a classroom. It was built through years of highs, lows, mistakes, and lessons I had to learn the hard way.
Math and I go way back. I loved it as a kid, not because I was naturally amazing at it, but because there was something about solving a problem that just felt satisfying. Still, loving math didn't automatically mean I got good grades. In grades 7 and 8, I was scoring in the 60s and 70s in a syllabus that should have been much easier. Looking back, I wasn't putting in the effort, and deep down I knew it.
Then grade 9 came, and something changed. For the first time, I stopped studying just to finish homework and started trying to actually understand what I was learning. That year I scored the highest in my class with a 97.
Unfortunately, that success became my biggest mistake.
I got comfortable. I convinced myself that if I could do it once, I could do it again without working as hard. By the end of grade 10, I had dropped back into the 70s and 80s. It wasn't because I wasn't capable. It was because I stopped respecting the process.
Grade 11 was my wake-up call.
I knew O Levels weren't something I could leave until later. So I went all in. I solved every Cambridge O Level Mathematics past paper across every variant I could find. When I finished those, I moved on to IGCSE papers. Then Edexcel. My goal wasn't just to pass or even get a distinction. I wanted to know every type of question that could possibly appear.
Eventually, two-hour papers that once felt impossible started taking me only 20 to 30 minutes.
When my final exam arrived, I walked in feeling completely confident. Maybe a little too confident.
I finished the paper in around 45 minutes, sat back, and thought I'd done it.
I hadn't.
One small mistake.
Two marks gone.
198 out of 200.
At the time, it felt like everything I had worked for had disappeared because of one careless moment.
I was devastated.
But after a while, I realised something that changed the way I looked at learning forever.
Those two marks taught me more than a perfect score ever could.
They taught me that confidence without discipline can become overconfidence. That talent means very little if you stop improving. And that success isn't about never making mistakes. It's about learning from them before they become habits.
Around the same time, I started helping friends with mathematics. They kept telling me the same thing.
"You explain it in a way that actually makes sense."
At first, I didn't take them seriously. I kept thinking, "Who am I to teach when I didn't even get the perfect score I wanted?"
Then I realised something.
Maybe the best teachers aren't the ones who never struggled.
Maybe they're the ones who struggled enough to understand exactly why other students get stuck.
Every mistake I made became something I could help someone else avoid.
That's how MATHSIMIZED started.
It isn't built around showing off grades or pretending the journey was perfect. It's built around everything that happened before the result. The confusion, the frustration, the overconfidence, the late nights, the moments when nothing seemed to work, and finally finding a way that did.
Over the years, I realised that most students don't struggle because they're not smart enough. They struggle because nobody teaches them how to think through a problem properly. Once you understand the logic behind mathematics instead of trying to memorise everything, the subject becomes completely different.
That's the approach I built MATHSIMIZED on.
If you're looking for someone who has never made mistakes, you're in the wrong place.
But if you're looking for someone who has made them, learned from them, and built a system so you don't have to repeat them, then you're exactly where you're supposed to be.
